PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - Portland Police have identified a woman killed in a hit and run crash in southeast portland. Officers say 35 year old Lara Morrow’s death marks the 21st traffic fatality in Portland this year.

The accident happened at southeast 122nd and Division on May 24th at about 1:30 in the afternoon. Officers say the eastbound driver involved did not stop to help.

People who live and work in the neighborhood say reckless driving – and pedestrians darting out into traffic – have made for a deadly mix. Recognizing that traffic safety is an issue in the neighborhood, the city of Portland just made improvements in the area last year. Among the improvements was the installation of curbs to protect the bike lane.

From 2020-2022 Portland saw a steady increase in traffic fatalities. This year for the first time in a while the city says it may be seeing some improvements. So far, traffic fatalities for 2023 are not as high as they were in 2022.

Officers are still looking for the hit and run driver involved in last Wednesday’s crash. If you have any information you’re asked to call Portland Police.
